Dear Customers,

So far this year, I have met with many customers to learn about their water quality testing projects, needs and challenges. A common theme in these conversations is the need for uncomplicated, microbial water quality tests that are field ready, do not require electricity, are designed for onsite testing virtually anywhere, and are not difficult to use.

If this also describes your testing needs and challenges, I hope you will contact me. Our mission is to help you simplify field testing outside of labs with simple tests that are easy for anyone to learn to use.

Thank you and regards,

Post-Flooding Water Quality Testing is Crucial

Natural disasters such as floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes contaminate water supplies, both groundwater and surface water sources. Sewage, septage and animal waste are sources of E. coli bacteria that find their way into drinking water sources and supplies. This includes wells.

Floodwaters contain a wide range of potentially dangerous contaminants, including microbial pathogens, chemicals and heavy metals that pose serious health risks.

In the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster, the most urgent need typically is to provide potable drinking water to residents. Soon after that, water quality testing as part of disaster response efforts is crucial to determine if water supplies are contaminated with fecal pathogens, notably E. coli, to prevent public health risks.

Following are some examples of how Aquagenx water quality test kits have been used in disaster response.

How It Began: 2013 Disaster Response

2013 was the first year Aquagenx began shipping our water quality test kits around the world. The first major disaster response initiative using our E. coli test kit was for Super Typhoon Haiyan, locally known as Yolanda, in the Philippines. It is the deadliest typhoon in modern Philippine history, with over 6,300 human fatalities.

The Government of Philippines deployed our Compartment Bag Test for E. coli shortly after Haiyan made landfall. Multiple NGOs and humanitarian aid organizations participated in field testing using high volumes of our test kits.

Customer Stories in Disaster Response

Since 2013, numerous customers use our water quality field test kits for their disaster response initiatives. Most of them are not featured in customer stories, but here are a few that are.

IFRC for severe flooding in Malaysia.

Austalian Red Cross for flooding in Malaysia.

Love City Strong for Hurricane Maria.

Aquagenx Test Kits for Disaster Response

Basis of Aquagenx MPN Table

Customers sometimes ask why multiple rows in our color-coded Most Probable Number (MPN) Table have the same MPN values. Or, why some rows for the Upper 95% Confidence Level have lower values than the preceding row.

Answers are due to specific combinations of positive and negative compartments with different volumes in our Compartment Bag. We have encapsulated sophisticated statistics into our easy-to-read, color-coded MPN Table.
